Hello!  Thank you for taking the time to visit our website and learn how Seek First Ministries can come alongside your church, small group, or family to assist in the discipleship-making process within your homes and communities.

If there is one over-riding theme for my life these past ten years, it would be the greater need to live a life that is aligned with who I am in Jesus Christ; a walk of life where faith becomes real.  This equates to a life of continual change.  Yet, it is the reality of our relationship with a sovereign and perfect God that controls and compels this transformation to take place in the heart of every person that God calls His child.  To use a good seminary term, God's work in our lives is always efficacious.  In other words, once God begins to work in us, He will faithfully and effectively see the job to completion (Phil. 1:6).

Yet, within God's sovereign plan for His people, He has given us a "responsibility."  As volitional creatures created in His image, we are given the ability to think, love, choose, and act within His divine love story.  However, it is here, within the mysterious inter-dynamics of His providential work, that we find our greatest assurance of His enduring love.  As we yield our will to God's, He bears His fruit in us (John 15:5, 8).  As such, our salvation is not made complete by our works.  Rather, our works that display God's sanctifying Hand in our lives, give testimony to The One that now dwells within us; in essence, our sanctification, reflects the reality of our new nature in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17, Gal. 2:20, Romans 12:1-2).  This is what James meant when he said that faith without works is dead (James 2:26).  If God has set you apart as His child, He has prepared works for you to complete (Eph. 2:10).

God has justified us and redeemed us in order to sanctify us for one greater purpose: To reveal His glory (1 Cor. 6:19-20).  This is our life-calling.  It is here within the understanding of who we are in Christ that we now must begin to define what we do and how we live, i.e. worship.  When God adopts a child into His family, He brings into His fold a unique creation that He alone has fashioned and shaped (Ps. 139:13-16).  As such, each one of His children is uniquely made, gifted, equipped, and positioned for a greater life-mission of service.  This leads us to consider some crucial questions.

  1. How has God uniquely made me and gifted me to serve Him?
  2. What have I done and what am I currently doing to further sharpen my gifts for God's service?
  3. Do I consider my life as missional for Christ?  (Am I as missional locally as the missionaries my church sends and supports globally?)  If not, why not? (see Mt. 28:19-20, Acts 1:8, 2 Cor. 5:20)
  4. Am I intentional and available with what matters most to God?  Consider your relationships and resources (i.e. your mission field)
  5. How are you doing within your most proximal mission field...your family? (Eph. 5:22-6:4)
  6. Are you compelled by God's love to carry the burdens of those around you? (Gal. 6:2)
  7. Does your life implore others to be reconciled with God? (2 Cor. 5:20)
  8. Is your greatest satisfaction in life to reveal God's glory to others? (Mt. 5:13-16)

Our workshops and resources look to engage the body of Christ over these vital issues of our faith.  Yet, we cannot stop at the evaluation point.  We must then pursue to intentionally align and plan our lives (what we do and how we do it) around God's greater mission for our lives...for His glory revealed.  Please visit our new resource page and workshop page for more details.  Also, email me at joe@seekfirstmin.org to discuss how we could assist you in personalizing a workshop, conference, or presentation for your church or other Christian organization.  I would love to hear from you.

Thank you again.  Grace and peace as you serve.

In Christ,
