One of the greatest achievements of a married woman is to love her husband to the point that self is lost in the process. It is the pinnacle reality of a Christ-saturated life that is no longer consumed by self-preservation and/or self-seeking pleasure.  A woman that achieves this level of high service before God is a woman that has attained a great understanding of practical lowliness, i.e. the humility of Christ (Philippians 2).  She is a woman that is foremost a slave to Christ and now a servant to others that she may please her Master.  In the most real way, this is a woman that has fully grasped the meaning of Galatians 2:20 and is now applying it within the context of Ephesians 5:21-24.

She is  a one-man woman that knows the intimacy of oneness that God has declared sacred.  She understands her calling as a help-mate to her husband as one of submission as the church submits to Christ.  It is a commitment of life-long sacrifice, sanctification, and service.  She knows that it is Christ that defines her womanhood and it is now Christ that compels how she lives as a woman within her God-defined roles.  The world is neither her master nor her guide.

At the end of the day, it is not the accolades or even the approval from her husband, family, and friends that feeds the motivation of this woman.  It is the pleasure and glory of her Savior God.  It is in God’s satisfaction, derived from doing God’s will that ultimately yields this woman’s greatest joy in marriage and within every aspect of life.

To the married women out there that call Christ Savior and Lord...is this your aim?
